Architect as a Private Member of the landmark Chronically Sick & Disabled Persons Act 1970.
In 1974 he became the world's first Minister for, Disabled People, enacting further wide-ranging legislation, to improve the status and wellbeing of disabled persons
President of The Haemophilia Society
Vice-President of the War Widows Association
He is the only British citizen to have been awarded both the Order of Australia and the Queen’s Service Order of New Zealand
